MilQ & Honey: Transforming Beauty

The land of MilQ & Honey was a concept started by the Kelly and Gabriella Davids in 2012. The sisters, in true entrepreneurial spirit, had an idea of starting a haven in the suburbs where one could enter and transform your body for the better. Milq & Honey now encompasses a day spa, a fashion label and an organic kitchen.

Visit to the Milq & Honey Spa

On an early Friday morning, I made my way to the Milq & Honey Spa in Rondebosch. I made an early appointment as I was working the afternoon and forgot all about the horrendous Rondebosch traffic. Ugh! Anyway, I managed to make it on time and didn’t lose my way as it was really close to the Rondebosch Common. Only problem was there wasn’t any signage and I ended up driving down the road until I realised it was right on the corner. There is no parking either so you need to park along Annerley street and walk to the front entrance which faces the common.

We were greeted by a friendly therapist who showed us to the dimly lit and cosy therapy room. The room was a comfortable, ambient temperature which is always a plus. Who likes to get cold during a massage? There was no change room which annoyed me slightly but I was quickly over it once the therapy started.

Our therapy consisted of a full body massage, an Indian head massage and a mini-facial. The dark room and heated blanket quickly lulled me to a semi-sleep and the head massage was quite pleasant. It wasn’t oily or tortuous like I had previously experienced. The facial was quick and the therapist assured me that the products they used are fully organic and safe for all skin types. As with most massages, I wished the therapist would have worked more on the knots in my back and was mildly disappointed when it was over.

Once therapy was over, we changed and had coffee in the hair salon. I would have liked if they served it to us in the garden which looked quite inviting. IMG_1460

Gabriella kindly gave me a tour of the house and a little background to the business. The spa has now expanded to include a hair salon and a fully kitted room for body therapies, Mani’s and pedi’s.

She also showed me their design house where the magic happens. They Recently opened a store in the Watershed at the V&A Waterfront. Be sure to check out their ready-to-wear afrocentric collections.

Milq & Honey offers great Matric Ball and wedding packages where they design and create a custom dress, do full body treatments, mani’s, pedi’s and everything else that one could possible need and this has undoubtedly become quite popular.

Whats the Verdict?

Milq & Honey is wonderful concept where one can enter and be completely transformed via fashion, food and beauty. It is not a spa one goes to to spend the day and enjoy the facilities (there is no sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, etc). It is the place you go to before a big date or event to get prepped, or for a quick break during the week when you need that extra pick me up. Go to Milq and Honey with the purpose of coming out a more fabulous you!
