The LIT Hotel, Bangkok- Hotel Review

The LIT, Bangkok, is a 4-star boutique hotel in the Siam/ National stadium area. We chose the hotel due to its location which is very near to the BTS train station and near to the MBK shopping centre. I was also intrigued by the idea of a design boutique hotel.

We had previously stayed at the Pathumwam Princess hotel, Just across the road so we had quite high hopes for this hotel. We knew the Siam area quite well and decided to take the bus from the airport and then the BTS to Siam station. We didn’t realise the hotel was down quite a long road (about 200m) which we had to trudge down with with all our luggage. That’s us being cheap again and not taking a taxi.

Once we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the staff. The entrance and the foyer are quite attractive with interesting design elements. There was a little “park” area where you can walk through to the pool, spa, gym or bar. Check -in was quick. there was no welcome drink but we were informed that there is a complimentary coffee machine if we wanted to use it.

I wasn’t particularly impressed by it but it had interesting features. IMG_0863 20140321_150249 20140321_150221There was lots of natural light, it had an mp3 player, a desk and a nice bed. There was a rain shower and a smaller shower, as well as a bath.

The not so great parts: the room was small. Maybe not so small but the use of space seemed inefficient. The toilet was right by the door and separated from the bedroom by only a curtain. For new couples, this might be uncomfortable as you can imagine. There is a really narrow pathway from the toilet to the bath and showers. The docking station had a light which could not be turned off which was directly in front of the bed. There was a limited number of TV channels.

The room had all the essentials but did not feel very luxurious for a 4-star hotel. I unfortunately spent more time than I would usually spend in the hotel room because I came down with the flu (in my fave city! what a waste.)

The breakfast was quite nice. We were able to order the eggs, waffles and flapjacks from a menu. The breakfast was the same for every day we were there. IMG_0902 IMG_0901

The walk to the MBK was not as short as we hoped owing to a long dingy alleyway which got a little creepy at night. 20140322_110356

The good: The staff were very curtious. Check in and check-out were a breeze. They organised a cab for us in the early morning when we had to leave. The spa was very attractive and fully kitted with his and hers jacuzzis and and infinity pool. We didn’t get to use the pool as it rained most the time we were there.

Overall, I found the hotel okay. Not great. Not worth the over R1000pn price tag. I would stay there again, but only if it had a terrific special price.
